1. Listen to your partner. This means letting go of some of your need to respond with your side and taking time to understand where your partner is coming from. Try to see through the eyes of your partner.

 

2. Be aware of name calling whether it is verbally expressed or rattling around in your head, name calling such as “You are a jerk, insensitive, inconsiderate, etc.” is toxic to relationships.

 

3. Often a partner assumes that the other is not listening unless they agree. Accept that your partner can listen and hear you and not agree or do what you want.
